Guest Scientist Prof. Dr. Jochen Albrecht at GIScience Research Group

Jochen AlbrechtThis summer term, the GIScience research group at Heidelberg University has the honour of hosting Prof. Dr. Jochen Albrecht as a guest scientist. We are very pleased to welcome Jochen to Heidelberg and to our research group!

Dr. Jochen Albrecht is a professor for Computational and Theoretical Geography at Hunter College in New York City. He has previously held positions at the Universities of Auckland (NZ), Wisconsin, and Maryland. Jochen has published two books, 19 journal articles, and 13 other refereed publications. His current research focuses on (1) spatial regression modeling of drivers of global greenhouse gas emissions, (2) neighbourhood-level behavioural modeling of environmental stressors in New York City, and (3) GIS portfolio management. Prof. Albrecht has served on the boards of several AAG specialty groups, URISA, and now the GIS Certification Institute. He has been the general editor of the URISA Journal and is now a section editor of the UCGIS Body of Knowledge. In 2018, Dr. Albrecht received the UCGIS Education Award.
